The Glasswing Shacket

Inspired by the delicate transparency of the glasswing butterfly, the Glasswing Shacket transforms a classic oversized denim silhouette into wearable textile art. The back features an intricate reverse appliqué butterfly, where carefully cut openings in the denim reveal a collage of reclaimed vintage fabrics beneath. Reverse appliqué is a technique in which the top layer of fabric is cut away to expose the fabrics underneath, creating depth, texture, and a stained-glass effect. 

Crafted from rescued vintage textiles—including quilt fragments, florals, and geometric prints—no two butterflies will ever be exactly alike. Each fabric carries its own history, making every Glasswing Shacket a true one-of-one piece.

Care:

• Hand wash cold or machine wash on a gentle cycle inside out.
• Wash with like colours using a mild detergent.
• Do not bleach.
• Reshape while damp and hang or lay flat to air dry.
• If needed, use a cool iron on the reverse side, avoiding the appliqué.
• Due to the nature of the reverse appliqué and reclaimed vintage textiles, gentle fraying along the cut edges is to be expected after washing. This natural evolution adds to the character and uniqueness of your one-of-a-kind piece, making it even more beautiful over time.
